Dr. Alex Jenny Ky, a professor of surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, is an expert in laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, performing complex procedures that few other doctors in the world are able to perform. She is also specially trained in transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM), a new minimally invasive technique which can remove some tumors of the rectum through the anus, possibly avoiding the need for a permanent stoma and abdominal surgery. She also specializes in stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) for treating ODS and the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids (PPH). Dr. Ky also offers the option of an artificial anal sphincter which can potentially reverse a permanent stoma. Dr. Ky, who has been in practice for more than 17 years, has published extensively in medical journals and medical textbooks, and is a frequent lecturer on different colorectal topics.

Dr. Ky’s current research interests include the repair of anorectal fistula with plug and the use of botox in the treatment of anal fissures. After graduating from Brown University and SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, Dr. Ky completed a General Surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and a Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Ky is also a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and a Board member and Education Committee Member of the Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS). She also speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.
